I just spent 8 days and 7 nights camping in cold, wet, Tennessee without internet or my cell phone. On the “flat” part of a slope.

  • I actually met at least 100 people. Though 150 is probably closer to accurate.
  • I stayed up late and woke up early.
  • I lost somewhere between 5 and 7 pounds. Against my will.
  • I ate some fun food.
  • I was sick for 5 out of the 8 days, and voiceless for 2 of the 5.
  • I became not-quite-as-scared-as-before of GIANT daddy long leg spiders. Seriously. Even when they were crawling on my legs.

I was confused.

skeptical

loved

surprised

I experienced friendship.

trust

deep sorrow

joyousness

I came into camp with 43 squad mates that were all strangers.

I left camp with 43 friends that will become some of my best friends over the next 13 months – some of whom will probably end up being close friends for the rest of my life.

And now I’m writing this from a plane on my way back home. It’s been a strange week of extreme dichotomies and drastic changes.

I’ll leave you with this teaser for now – there’s another blog on its way to you this week that will further process some of my questions and thoughts from the week at camp. Stay tuned and subscribe. It’s an awesome way to follow the journey I so badly want you to be a part of!

With love.
