Many of you know, I love babies, and what I love even more, worshiping my Papa in Heaven with a baby, His precious creations, in my arms. (Though my prayer now, more than ever, is that they just have enough layers between me and them, just in case they pee, with the lack of diapers that are present here in Africa.) Many babies were held this month and I fell in love with each one and I want you to know "The Baby Whisperer" record continues and each one that has embraced me, has fallen asleep in my arms and I am covered in only in sweat, if I'm lucky. 🙂
We were told that we were dedicating, Pastor Patrick's (the speaking pastor of Logos Celebration Miracle Center in Kakamega City) fourth daughter, Faith. I realize, at this moment, that the baby that I am holding, have been holding, is Faith. Oh, wait, I'm holding Pastor Patrick's littlest one. I've been hearing about her all month and I find I'm holding her! Wow! As I hand her back to her mother, the parents are called forward for her dedication. As Apostle Charles calls them up, he also asks for her 2 spiritual mothers to come up. Oh wait, did he just look directly at me and call me by name? Yes, Apostle called me Laura Danielle Williams, up as the second spiritual mother of Faith Shingoli.
I didn't know what to do, what to say. I just found myself up there, with Faith, her parents, and her spiritual godmother as Apostle dedicated Faith to the Lord and His will would supersede all else in her life. The whole church extended hands and prayed for Faith, her parents, and her spiritual mothers, that they would guide her in all the ways of the Lord and share His love with her all the days of her life. Oh wait, again, is that me? I'm supposed to help guide Faith in all His ways? Yes, God's laid that blessing of a responsibility in my hands and I now get to keep in contact with her parents through the invention of the internet. I get to praying for her everyday of her life. I get to be emailed updates on her growth, on her school days, on her marriage. God gave me a life, that day, the 28th of August, 2011, without any expectation. It went as many dedications I have seen in all my years. It was a blessing of celebration to give a child of God back to Him and all he has for Faith.
For those of you, who thought I would come home with a baby from every country, you are right at least for one, I am coming home with a precious little girl, a girl named Faith. A girl who will grow in the verse God blessed me with, Matthew 17: 20, "For I assure you: If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Faith Malesi Shingoli is going to move mountains.
May I ask that you please pray for Faith, her parents, Patrick and Oddah; and her 2 spiritual godmothers. We have a big responsibility ahead of us and I now know "a little" of the burden you parents carry in raising children in the ways of our Lord. Thank you. Pictures will have to follow.
