Zimbabwe was a month of firsts. One of those firsts was newspaper ministry!
We had the opportunity to walk around a few communities passing out Christian newspapers to locals. As we walked, we got to know some of the people from the church we had partnered with.
The newspapers themselves were filled with stories about what God is doing around the world. The articles were actually rather good, featuring people from all different lifestyles.
I enjoyed this process because we were able to walk up and down so many streets, meeting hundreds of people, and connect them (Christians and non-Christians alike) to a local church.
We also had the chance to go talk at a school in a huge assembly and pass out the newspapers as we left.
I am not a huge fan of passing out tracks; I value having a personal connection with people and you can sometimes miss out on that, but it was obvious as we walked that many of these people were “regulars.” Many knew of the church, knew God, and were looking for a little entertainment or encouragement. It was good to be able to visit with people and encourage them and have them connect more with the local church.
