God, what’s next? What’s happening after the Race?
What do you want?
Um no. Sorry. That’s not how this works. I give my life to you, fully and completely, and YOU decide what I should be doing. You go before me, prepare the way, and block off any detours I might try to take. You have a plan for my life- remember? I’ve given you my life; please do with it what YOU will.
What do you want?
I want to do what You want me to do! You said you would give me life abundantly- I want that abundant life. You know the outcome! I don’t have all the information; I can’t make the right decision!
What do you want?
*Sarcastic and salty* What do YOU want?!
What do you want?
Gah! I want a husband! And babies!
I want to start a ministry!
I want to go back to school!
I want to live near my family!
I want be actively involved in a beautiful community of believers!
I want adventures and coffee and photography and hiking and flannel shirts and beautiful fall days and snowy winter nights!
What part of that, do you think, goes against My will for your life?
…….I….. I don’t know. But that hasn’t really changed- I mean, you know those have been my desires for a long time.
Have they?
… I mean. Sort of… There are just so many options, I don’t know which direction to pick.
Do you remember how much you wanted the Race?
Of course…
I gave you that desire. I molded you, formed you until it was time for you to go. You pursued the Race, just like you will pursue whatever is next. Take steps, small ones or big ones- it doesn’t matter, as long as you are walking with me. My will for your life is to bring Me glory wherever you may be, whatever you may be doing.
That is excellent, in theory, but it would be easier if you just told me what’s next.
What do you want?
You tell me.
What are you afraid of?
Choosing wrong. Making a mistake. Disappointing you. Not living this life as well as I could have. Being trapped in an awful marriage. Being a bad mom. Having a job that I hate.
Trust me. Walk with me. Don’t rely on your own strength. I won’t promise this life will be easy, but it’s worth it. Keep your eyes on Me.
*Deep breath* All right. Where do I start?
What do you want?
