IT’S A NEW YEAR, AND A NEW YEAR MEANS A NEW YOU RIGHT?! Do you have a new years resolution, a promise to give up that annoying little habit that’s always following you around in your weakness? Why not try a new approach at tackling your stronghold that’s holding you back from the full greatness that God has in store for you?? Speaking for myself, I’ve been constantly raising money for missions within the last 2 years, worry HAS been my stronghold. Sometimes it seems like I’ll never be able to shake the anxiety and stress in my life. But truth is.. we’re all in a war right now, a spiritual war we can’t win without Jesus. All by ourselves we fall to pieces, but he’s strong in our weakness. A promise is a promise and God promises to never let us fall, stumble, but never fall. He makes clear that it’s only when you completely surrender your fear to him, that that’s where he works the most.
“Let go of your concerns!
Then you will know that I am God.
I rule the nations
I rule the earth.”
– Psalms 46:10
Have you ever actually considered what goes into the creating of the anti venom that saves peoples’ lives from snake bites? Who would have thought that God is completely intertwined in that.. Before anti venom is even formed, a lamb is injected with that same deadly venom. Just moments after the venom meets with the lamb’s blood, antibodies are formed in the lamb’s blood, creating a resistance against the snake venom. The antibodies are extracted from the blood, to create what’s known to us as the anti venom. Crazy huh? Lets just think about this concept for a minute.. The blood of the lamb, the blood of Jesus, was shed for us to save us from the burdens of this world. To save us from strongholds. He shed his blood for us, so we wouldn’t have to let worry, anxiety, frustration, and discouragements dictate our lives. But what if we didn’t have that anti venom that gave us a second chance for forgiveness? Consider this, God gave his only son, who would later give his life for us all to have this so called “anti venom.” In saying all this, we have no room for strongholds in our lives for the very reason that Jesus makes us strong in our weakness and his promise to never abandon us is true. How mind blowing is it that the very same God that created the raging seas and the very breath in our lungs, orchestrated life to be so beautiful by giving evidence of his presence even in the little things like the creation of anti venom. This year, be encouraged in the thought that you are a child of the one true King and he has given you a spirit of power to overcome the impossible!
