I expected it on the Race. Did I want it? No. But I expected it.
Honestly I figured I would have it before now. Thank you, Jesus, that I hadn't, but I do now.
LICE
What an ugly word. What an ugly bug who lays ugly eggs.
I asked God "WHY lice and WHY mosquitos?"
His reply "they were Lucifer's idea."
Ugh!
Anyway, how does one deal with the ugly pest on the World Race, in India, when the corner "convenient" store doesn't have the lice kits or lice combs?
Coconut (with jasmine for scent) oil and great team mates.
The oil will sufficate the live bugs, but not the nits.
The team mates will pick out all the bugs and nits they can find, for days, until they can't find anymore.
Its not comfortable for either of us. I have my head cranked for hours. They have to find bugs and pick them up with their fingers. Gross.
But the reality is thats what friends are for. We have people in our lives who go through the crap with us and help us pick the bugs out of the cover up of beautiful hair. Everyone has that layer they don't want anyone to see or know about. And everyone has that friend who points out our ugliness, our dirtiness, our junk and helps us to change that grossness into beauty.
For some it may be anger. We may need to go deep to find where our anger stems from, work through it, and turn it into patience.
"A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel" Prov. 15.18
"A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly" Prov. 14.29
Some of us lack joy; we would rather be a Negative Nancy than to see the positive things in each situation.
"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" Prov. 17.22
For a long time I had a lack of love in my life because I thought I had a right to be, but Prov. 10.12 says that "Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over ALL wrongs"
What is it for you?
Is it lust? "The Lord detests men of perverse heart but he delights inthose whose ways are blameless" Prov. 11.20
Is it fear? "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid for The Lord your God is with your wherever you go" Joshua 1.9 In truth the only fear you should have is: "The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" Prov. 9.10
I had to go to my team mates; my friends whom I live with, and say, "I just scratched my head and found this: a louse." I challenge you to go to your friends and expose your ugliness! Let them help you through the things that make you weak. Ask them to encourage you with truth and not the lies in your head.
Allow them to pick out your bugs.
