Hello there!
I am Laura. (AKA Lori Jean, Laura Jane, Laura Bell, Lulu Bell, Lou, Lala, just “La”, Boo (only my dad can call me this), Laura-boo, LVR, and the worst, LOR-a (which is not how you pronounce my name).
Anywhoo, if you don’t know me, I’ll fill you in. I am the youngest of three children to my lovely parents. We have a darling Siberian husky named Dakota, and by “darling” I mean completely wild. I graduated high school from Middlesex High (Class of ’09, woot woo!) and completed my Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Psychology from Christopher Newport University in 2013. Immediately following graduation my plan was to pursue a Master’s of Arts in Teaching degree, however, God had different plans for me. Even though I began that program, I switched to the Master’s in Church Ministry with a concentration in Discipleship program at Liberty Theological Seminary Online in the Fall of 2013, which I will complete in December of 2014! Holla! Then, hopefully, I’ll be done with formal education even though I fully intend to continue being educated by the people and places around me for the rest of my life.
I am passionate about people. I enjoy being a member of Coastal Community Church because I am able to love on people who enjoy loving me back with the same tenacity and love from God. I’ve got to give a shout out to my college folks! The college ministry rocks my socks and I am always overjoyed whenever they come in the masses to church. I’ve had the privilege to be an intern and the Coordinator for the College and Twenty-Something’s ministries at my awesome church for 2014. Being away from my church and my people will be one of the hardest parts of the WR for me.
In my spare time you could find me leisurely reading, walking the Noland Trail, or catch me at a local coffee shop… Or watching any of the Harry Potter films. I tend to do that a lot.
Basically, I laugh a lot and enjoy seeing God’s hand in this masterpiece that is life. Life is a precious gift and I aim to make the most of it.
Psalm 34:1-3
I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
