Dear Family and Friends,
I hope this letter finds you well! I wanted to write you to let you know about some new things that are going on in my life. As many of you may know, I have felt a call to go overseas and work with victims of human trafficking. A few years ago I saw a woman (Somaly Mam) on a talk show who was sharing her story of growing up in Cambodia as a victim of sex slavery. My heart broke and I knew then that God was calling me to make a stand. I worked hard and received my Masters Degree in Social Work in hopes of traveling one day to meet and work with these extraordinary individuals. Over the past year my heart has been restless, searching for a way and a means to make this dream possible. Through prayer, God has opened the door for me to make that dream a reality through missions.
Beginning in September 2013, I will serve as a missionary through the organization Adventures in Missions (AIM), in their World Race program. The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. Through adventure, ministry, community, and self discovery, World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe. On the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restoration and hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
I am so grateful for this opportunity that God has given me, and have every confidence that He will provide for my needs. Ultimately, my prayer is that He will do that through you! I am writing to you to ask if you would consider partnering prayerfully and financially with me in my ministry. My trip will cost $20,000 ($5,000 is my portion that I will spend to cover my immunizations, equipment, passport, and travel to the launch site) and I must raise $15,000 in support in order to go on the World Race, which covers all of my expenses on the field. This financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount and beginning and end date. If 25 people pledge $50 a month for 12 months, or 50 people pledged $25 a month for 12 months, I would have 100 percent of the funds necessary for my trip.
