God has placed different people in my life these past few years that I never thought I’d meet. And without following God’s will in where to journey to next I never would have met. From MLB players wives who have showed me friendship, support and trust in watching their kiddos (and keep shopping clearence racks at Target even if you make a few million a year), to a NY boss who reaches out to people daily offering support and a listening ear, to two sisters in Canada who have jumped on board with me and the race offering prayers, support and encourgeing words even though we’ve never met.
Yes, I’ve been blessed to meet all of these people and many more new faces who I often think of. I want to focus on one today. Her name is Jennifer Rose Goeddertz.
Jennifer is an amazing Christian woman who just finished the January 2009 World Race! Now for this to make sense I must say that I thought NO ONE in NY knew what the World Race was or anything about Adventures In Missions (AIM). Because they are based in GA the word hasn’t really reached way up here. I was wrong though! A couple came up to me while I was promoting my trip at a local apple festival and told me about their son who is a missionary under AIM in Africa and a woman they know who was on the race then. I was shocked! Someone actually knew what I was talking about! It was exciting for my mom too who was still a little weary about sending her baby out with people she doesn’t know. It was a conformation that I was on the rt track! Anyway, I looked up Jennifer’s blog right away and posted on her blog that I’d love to meet her when she was back in NY.
I was excited to get an email from her planning to meet up at Starbucks. I thought I’d just get some questions answered and more “insider” information on what I was going to be doing on the race.
I didn’t expect to meet this incredibly, amazing woman of God. Her passion for God shines from her eyes, her smile brightens your day and God spoke leaps and bounds through her to touch my life. We talked for a few hours and I was so blessed and encourged. God spoke LIFE to me through her. God took away any tiny bits of doubt I had left and I knew God was going to turn my world upside down through this trip and everything He teaches me this year. God knew exactly what I needed when He blessed me with a cup of coffee and a talk with a woman of God who walks what she preaches, loves and prays for me when she hardly knows me and speaks words with truth, and love. She even made me the most awesome Christmas gift- a WR care package complete with letters for while I’m gone!! So sweet!!
It’s what I want God to do daily through me. I want to daily dig into God that He may use me to touch others lives like Jennifer touched mine.
