Door of Hope
I love South Africa. The beauty of scenery, the people, and the fact that there is electricity, plumbing and toasters.
Lol, My team and I had the pleasure to work with Door of Hope. Door of Hope is an orphanage located in Johannesburg, South Africa. They take in babies ages preemie to 2. The majority of the babies are abandoned and left in anything from a garbage dump, to fields to hospitals and more. 200 babies are found abandoned in the city area every month, 60 of them make it through alive.
With those shocking statistics Door of Hope started almost ten years ago. Their idea was to cut a hole in their church wall and place a bin there, when someone leaves their baby in the bin an alarm is sounded. Women who live there gather the baby and take it to the hospital then bring it into the Door of Hope family.
There are 3 different baby houses all located around Gauteng and Glen Vista, South Africa. All houses are staffed by incredible, loving, Christian men and women who dedicate their lives to finding loving homes for these children that were once called abandoned. They work with Abba Adoptions to place these children into their “Forever Families. Everyone is housed in 3 homes which are beautiful and as far from institutionalized as possible. They are warm, comfortable and friendly surroundings with the babies receiving their every need filled.
