We spent this past weekend on a retreat on the shores of Lake Atitlan.  The team leaders and squad leaders stayed in a town called San Pedro while the rest of the squad was across the lake in Santa Cruz de la Laguna at a hostel called La Iguana Perdida.

Surrounded by three volcanoes, the lake was most beautiful in the morning when the peaks were in sight and the water was calm.  There was no agenda for the weekend.  It was a weekend to unwind and recharge.  For me, the weekend consisted off swimming, dancing with Jesus, falling a sleep in a hammock, cliff jumping, worshipping on the dock, getting high on the Holy Spirit and jumping into the lake at 11 o'clock at night, and getting to know more of my squadmates.

The best part of the weekend was just being in awe of God's creation and feeling so loved by Him.   Friday night I danced with Jesus under the stars during the entirety of worship and Saturday night a bunch of us went out on the dock after dinner and had an impromptu worship session.  This night was the clearest by far; the moon was shining bright overhead and countless stars were strewn across the sky.  There was a thunderstorm on the horizon across the lake, lightning flashing throughout the night, but it never came our way.  In the middle of worship, one of the guys jumped off the dock into the lake on a Spiritual high.  At the end of our time of worship, those of us who were left gathered in a circle and sang one last song together, dancing and jumping [some of us having legitimate fears of breaking the dock].  "Our God Reigns" rang through the night.  In Guatemala, in all the nations, OUR GOD REIGNS.  At the end, someone jokingly said, "everyone in the lake."  I was already shedding my jacket to jump in.

The Spirit fell that night.  It fell hard.  Some saw visions in the clouds.  Other jumped in the lake, covered by God's love and grace.  But everyone who was on that dock, knew that God is in control and that He has a perfect plan to use all of us exactly where we are.
