I am not a Christian. I am not defined by the church I attend, the songs I sing, or the hours I spend in prayer.
I am not religious. I don’t follow a set of rules, have a checklist of obligations, or follow ceremonial traditions for the sake of duty.
I am not a slave. My life is not defined by what I should or should not do, nor is it a life restricted by what a “good Christian” should look like.
What I am is free.
What I am is Spirit-led.
What I do or do not do is based on honor, glory, and praise to my Father. It is about joyful obedience and taking pleasure in serving Someone bigger than myself. It’s about living a life of abundance and plenty no matter what my external circumstances may say.
My identity comes from a place bigger than a building where people go on Sunday mornings. It comes from more than a book or a message or an offering as the basket is passed down my row.
My heart is being held by a good God who takes pleasure and delight in me as His creation. He not only rescued me but He makes me new every morning. My past has been redeemed and my faults don’t define me. Who I am now is not a list of my mistakes, sins, or reasons why I shouldn’t be loved, accepted, and found pure. Who I am now is more than my externalities.
I am not a Christian.
I am His daughter.
