Please pray for me and my team!

As many of you already know, for the past three years I have been teaching 9th and 10th grade English at Petal High School. I truly can’t express how valuable my time at PHS has been. God has had his hand on me during this special time, and I have grown so much as a teacher and a professional, but more importantly, as a Christ-follower, seeing all my students and coworkers as my mission field. Those kids will always have a piece of my heart!

In December of 2013, I had the opportunity to leisurely travel to England, and it was through this experience that God began to speak to me about leaving everything I know and following Him wherever He may lead. I considered other towns or other school districts in response to this call; however, God was thinking bigger than I ever imagined! Starting in September, I will be traveling the world with Adventures in Missions through a program called the World Race. Along with a team of 6 or 7 other “Racers,” I will spend 11 months serving, ministering, and loving people from around the world for the glory of the kingdom of God!

What is Adventures in Missions and The World Race?

Adventures in Missions [AIM] is an interdenominational missions organization that has taken over 100,000 people into the mission field. The World Race, a program provided through AIM, is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. The World Race is not only a mission trip to win hearts for Christ, but also a discipleship program that teaches dependence on Christ and fellowship with Christian community. My team and I will serve with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution, and bring the hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.

Will you minister alongside me?

Just like many other mission organizations, World Racers must fundraise financial support to pay for expenses. I believe that just as God has called me to go, he is also calling together a team of ministry partners who, through their prayers and financial support, will serve alongside me during my 11 months on the World Race. Would you prayerfully consider supporting me through this journey by giving monthly? I must raise $16,200 in order to completemy 11 months. A very daunting amount, indeed! But, if 30 people give $50 a month for 11 months, that’s over $16,000! My first deadline is June 27th with $3,500 needing to be raised.

What is God calling you to do?

“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ ” Matthew 25:40

Is there an area in your life that you are holding on to? Obedience to God is doing what He says, when He says it, with the right heart attitude. I struggled with obeying God’s call to action. I pushed his gentle voice away and gave myself excuses. But, oh! What freedom there is in surrender! I know that God’s plans for my life are far more than I can imagine, and this next year is certainly something I never dreamed of happening. With your support, we can partner together and share the love of Christ to “the least of these” across the world.

This journey will stretch me to my breaking point. But thankfully, I serve a God who takes brokenness and masterfully uses the pieces to do His mighty work. I’m leaving comfort behind and stepping out in faith to spread the seeds of truth to a dying and hungry world. I’m already incredibly thankful for my future ministry partners’ support and prayers! Saying goodbye to many of you (and my sweet devoted family) will be TOUGH. So much love to you all! But I’m trusting God’s plans and diving head first into this glorious race God has set for me!

With all the fullness of His GRACE,

-Laura
