So they call me Laura:

I’m a 22 year-old graduate from the University of Washington (better known as UDub) in Seattle as of March 2012. I studied Psychology and  Urban Design and Planning. After graduating I nannied and worked at a non-profit called Side-by-Side (through volunteers they help to provide community and support in a variety of ways for families who have children with cancer and are receiving treatment).

I come from a place called San Diego, you may have heard of it. More specifically, I grew up in the city of Encinitas (a cute beachtown in Northern SD County). I was born into a family with two very awesome parents and one super lovely older sister (who lives up in Vancouver, BC). We also have a cairn terrier named Truffle, but he came about 14 years after me.

San Diego beachtown geography: Encinitas is quite arguably the greatest of all

My wonderful parents, Pam and John – aren’t they the cutest?

Me and my sister/best friend Elyse

Our dog, Truffle (he has quite the personality)

Here’s some random facts about me:

– I’m a huge Boston Bruins hockey fan (2011 Stanley Cup champs! woo!)

– My lucky number’s 22 (and I turned 22 years old while on the race!)

– I’m half Chinese (mom) and half Greek-Cypriot (dad)

– I drink a lot of coffee and eat a lot of chocolate (good thing I live in Seattle!)

– I can name all 196 countries of the world (thanks to my sporcle addiction)

– I’m a self-professed music snob. I believe that MUTEMATH is pretty much the best band. ever. Oh, and Josh Garrels is pretty great too. And Ben Howard and James Vincent McMorrow and the Paper Kites and Milo Greene and the Head and the Heart…to name a few.

– I’m not very talented, aside from the areas of hula-hooping and wordsearches

– When all else fails, I resort to 1 Peter 5:7

– Traveling is just about my favorite thing to do! 41 countries and counting….working towards my realistic goal of visiting every country.

For a glimpse of what is music to my ears, and hopefully yours as well, heeeeeere’s some MUTEMATH goodness:
