In August of 2012 I went to a Christian Music Festival with my parents and older sister. At that point in my life I was in a season of “waiting”. I knew that God had BIG plans for me in the future. I had been having dreams about returning to the nations and God had been reminding me constantly of my calling to share His truth with the world. In particular, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that God was going to use my testimony of how He freed me from self hatred, confusion, and doubt to impact women around the world. My heart was full of passion to be a vessel in which He would use to speak to women’s hearts concerning their identity and promises they have in Him. I knew all this but what I didn’t know was how exactly I was going to get TO the nations.
Before arriving at the festival, my family and I went to the beach and I was praying about all of these things. I surrendered all of it to God once again and then I happened to look up into the sky. There was the trail of a plain that started right above my head and led straight out into the horizon. At that moment, I clearly heard God say, “You will be in a plain a lot soon.” I was filled with peace and excited for God to reveal His big plan.
At the festival there were many booths and venders. As we walked onto the festival grounds that first day I immediately noticed a sign that said, “PASSPORT”. Of course it grabbed my attention. I walked straight over to the Adventures in Missions booth and right away was told about the World Race. The more I was told about it, the more I realized that this was exactly what God had been telling me about in my dreams! Before giving them my info or signing up I went away to pray about it. I sat on the beach and asked God, “Is this it? It seems perfect and exactly what you’ve been speaking to me about! But I’m scared. Sometimes things seem perfect but they aren’t from you. If it’s not of you, than I give it up and will keep waiting.” His response…”Sometimes things that seem perfect ARE perfect and from me.” Again, I was filled with so much peace. I then thought, “I wonder how my parents will feel about this.” I immediately saw a vision of myself walking back to where they were sitting and they excitedly said, “Hey Laura! We happened across this booth called AIM and they have this thing called the World Race! You should look into it!” Then, God as my witness, I walked over to my parents and everything from my vision actually happened. My parents handed me a brochure and then asked if we could go to a prayer tent and pray about it! I was so blown away and so blessed!
When I received prayer that day, the women that prayed over me spoke several things over me that were very confirming of what God had been speaking to me. One thing they said that has been ringing in my ears was, “The finances will come and when they do, it will be further confirmation of your calling.”
Here I am, almost a year and a half later, almost in month 8 of the World Race, and I am incredibly grateful to share with you that I am FULLY FUNDED! Everything that was prayed over me came true and so much more!
This journey has truly been LIFE CHANGING for so many reasons! I’ve learned so much about God and myself but I’ve learned how cherished I am and how much others believe in me. Through your prayers and financial support, I have had a deeper revelation of what it means to be in the beautiful body of Christ. Because you have been willing and obedient to give, not just me, but so many people have been impacted through your generosity. I have seen things, done things, and met people that forever have impacted me. I have gotten to share with women the truth of their identity, just like God said I would and have also become solid in my own identity. But this journey I’m on is not just mine, but it is yours too to share and to grow along with me.
