I used to believe that if God was telling me something about a particular situation then He had to be telling all of those involved the same thing. But recently I’ve discovered that God can be giving people different answers to the same question and both are correct. This is because God is teaching us different things at different times.
One person isn’t necessarily right and the other one wrong. God could be leading them in different ways to teach them different lessons at the same time. Perhaps one needs to learn to do less and trust God more and the other to trust God but not use it as an excuse to do less.
God knows our hearts and knows the best way to teach us exactly what we need to learn. One man needs more structure in his life while his brother needs more freedom. God will deal with them differently.
Don’t judge others’ directions from God. If He’s not giving them the same directions He is giving you, it isn’t necessarily that they are confused about what God is telling them. It could be that while we all have the same ending point, being more like Christ, we aren’t all starting from the same place or traveling at the same pace.
When giving directions, our first question is always, “Where are you coming from?” It is the same with God. Just because God tells you to go left and someone else to go right doesn’t mean He is bipolar. It just means you’re coming from different directions. Trust in His navigation skills. He is guiding all of us to Him.
Philippians 1:6 MSG
“There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.”
