The time will pass anyway,
you can either spend it creating the life you want
or spend it living the life you don’t want.
The choice is yours.
I know many people will see multiple different things that I have been posting on Facebook. I usually post 1/30 of what the World Race really is. I recently have been posting the highlighted reels of what goes on with my life as a World Racer. So, let’s be honest for a second and get down to the nitty gritty.
World Race in a nutshell. We constantly move from one country to another each month. We get connected to a family or individual who arranges our living conditions and our ministry “work” for the month. We usually work at total of 5 days a week.
Daily Life/ Ministry
Ukraine– Led English classes and facilitated an English Retreat.
Romania– Helped with multiple different missionaries specifically with what they needed help with at that specific time. We also hosted an event for youth to attend and hear more about the Lord.
Albania– Helped with a church, built relationships, painted a wall at a prison, facilitated a youth group and children’s ministry.
Vietnam– Led multiple English clubs.
Cambodia– Helped out at a cafe, hospital, and taught English Club and VBS to children in the neighborhood.
Thailand– Construction, scrub paint off of walls, paint.
This is what our days would consist of each month. When we are not at ministry you can find us writing blogs, hanging out with people we meet in each country, hanging out with our team (we have a designated time to spend intential time together). Throughout the month we can be spotted walking or riding public transportation to and from ministry. When we travel from one country to the next it is usually by train, bus or airplane (only from one continent to the next).
Break Down of Funding
We live off of $11 a day usually. We are given $5 a day for our meals for the ENTIRE DAY. In Europe we would usually pull our money together as a team to cook our meals. In Asia it is used to buy a type of noodle or rice dish. Sometimes we will use our own money to splurge on a western meal! 🙂 #treatyoself
We are given $1 for transportation. This is to get from our ministry site from where we live. In past months we would take the bus, walk, tuk tuk or ride bikes it’s always different in each country.
We are usually given $5 a day for lodging. We have lived in an apartment, community house, hostel and ministry host’s house.
This is just a small glimpse at what life has looked like. Of course we have been able to explore the country when we are there! That is one thing that I truly appreciate AIM wants us to be able to experience the world around us! I am so grateful for this <3
Adventure & Rest Days
We are given one day a week to rest and another day to adventure. The day to rest has saved me from being an even more of a hot mess. If we did not have our rest days I feel like I would be a sobbing mess.
On our adventure days we are able to explore the country this of course is paid out of pocket from our personal money. We have been to
Ukraine: Odyssa, Tunnel of Love, Lviv, Budapest.
Romania: Greece
Albania: Venice, Italy
Vietnam: Monkey Mountain, Marble Mountain, Hoi An, Fire Breathing Dragon Bridge, Waterfall, Beach (it was pretty much in the backyard of our hostel)
Cambodia: Angkor Wat, Pool at a Hotel, Movie Theater and Pizza (YUM!)
Thailand: Elephant Sanctuary, ??
Phew! That has only been the first half of the Race. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest!!
