You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone. Just be you and the right people will love you for it.
Lately, I have been stuck in comparing my life to others around me. I would compare myself to others lifestyle, looks, finances, personality or family. This would rob, steal and kill my joy.
I am learning that God created me for such a time as now, so why don’t I use my gifts to help others around me. I don’t want to compare myself to others- I want to freely be myself, love myself so that I can love others BETTER.
I would overanalyze everything. Before I would say or do something I would come up with multiple ways a person could react to what I would say or do. I filtered my actions and words through this lens so that I would not offend or annoy others. Living in a community I have found it difficult and tiring to filter everything and continue to live this way. After a few weeks of living life as I normally would, I became exhausted. My mind would be running in a thousand different directions. I have learned this month to be authentically me. When I am able to be the real me, I am able to love others well.
I thought the world race would be a magic pill to make all the comparison go away; instead it has heightened it and brought it to the surface. I am so glad that it has popped up so that I could work through it. Comparison is like a weed where if I do not take care of it, it will grow bigger, bigger and bigger until it overtakes the mind.
This is just a little bit of how the World Race has created freedom in my life it has all started with renewing my mind. I pray and hope that this will be a new lifestyle I keep up with even when I am back home.
