I often question myself…
Q: What are you doing to advance the Kingdom?
A: Going into the missions field for 11 months… in September…
Q: Oh, ok, that’s cool. So… what are you doing today?

This has been a thought that I’ve been rallying behind for the past few weeks. I am in fear of stalling out a gospel centered life simply because “I have a plan”. God has a greater plan, and I can’t imagine he’s calling me to lay down and simply wait for my departure to a foreign land. What am I doing today?!

Christ has shredded my conception of Christianity over the past year, and I love it.

Hebrews 10:24 (NIV) – And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

This isn’t asking me how I can nudge along my brothers and sisters down a righteous path. I’m not supposed to simply “suggest” that we show love to others. It says to SPUR each other on, which I believe is mostly consistent with the word used in the Greek. The author of Hebrews wants us to urge, kick, spur, and insist to one another to exhibit these things.

James 2:17-18 –  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

Ephesians 2:8-10 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

So I beg that you would insist to Brooke and me that we love. Insist that we sacrifice. Insist that we would die to ourselves so that the Spirit could live unabated through us.
