To just read the Bible, attend church, and aviod “big” sins-is this passionate, wholehearted love for God? – Francois Fenelon The Seeking Heart
This is a question we have been asking ourselves for over a year now.
What does it look like to follow Christ?

“Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.” First John two:six

We live in the “Bible Belt” and we are surrounded by people who profess to be Christians. We defiantly think that is awesome that we have so many brothers and sisters in Christ in our own backyard to fellowship with and grow beside.

However within the past year we feel Christ has been stirring up thoughts and emotions about what is it to really be a Christian.

Brooke- This has been really hard for me to wrap my mind around. Growing up and learning about Jesus I always saw Jesus as purely the Savior. Which Jesus is of course the Savior. I never really caught on to the fact that we are to strive to live like Jesus though. Yes, I knew that we should be good people and we should love people. I just never got that I should be looking more and more like Christ. I kind of thought that wasn’t possible. This probably doesn’t blow your mind like it did mine but I can’t help but feel like I missed something in those Sunday school classes.

So how did Jesus live? We feel like God is teaching us more and more that Jesus was a radical. We are constantly trying to process this. We’ll never fully figure it out but we feel like our hearts are defiantly changing. We want hearts that loves ALL humanity no matter what, we want hearts that never doubts that at all times God is sovereign, We want hearts that are not afraid to let go of this world and live for eternity, and we want hearts that truly realizes the power of prayer. We want to be radicals. We want to be different. We want to be in the world but not of it. Please don’t mistake that as us saying we want to isolate ourselves from the world and we don’t want anything to do with this world. It is sooo the opposite of that! We know this flesh drags us down and we will always fall short but we don’t want to use that as an excuse for us anymore.

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world-the craving of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”
First John two:fifteen-seventeen

We feel God is calling us to pack up our stuff, put our jobs on hold, love on people around the world, take a huge leap into His arms and really allow Him to show us what it looks like to fully depend on God.

We are drawn to The World Race because of several reasons. One of those reason is The World Race is looking for radically committed disciples. Over the past year God has been molding and shaping our hearts. He is revealing things to us that blow our minds about Christianity and “the American dream.” He is opening our eyes to humanity and the love we are called to show.
Therefore, we have been called to be racers.
