We are extremely pumped that God is leading us to the World Race! We can not wait to be the hands and feet of Christ, to be molded and shaped everyday to look more like Jesus and to be taken out of our American ways.
Lane and I met for the first time in Sunday school at Church when we were both in college. It helped that I worked at a private school, Water Oak Elementary, where Lane’s sisters and brother attended it. I knew his family but I didn’t know they had an older son. We kept in contact through email and AIM after we met. One Friday Lane mentioned he was coming to see his family and asked if he could hang out with my friends and me. I think this is very funny now because that wasn’t like Lane to do at that time. Now that his relationship with Christ has grown so much I could totally see him wanting to connect with strangers. 🙂 We became good friends and before we knew it we were dating.
Four years later Lane proposed and I married my best friend on March 14, 2009! The same date as our first date.
ABOUT BROOKE
My name is Brooke Doughtie and I am a third grade teacher in the Forney ISD. I am twenty five years old, and I have three sisters including my twin sister. I grew up in Mesquite, TX and moved to Sulphur Springs, TX in high school. After high school I attended college at TAMU-Commerce and graduated Decemeber 07. I enjoy reading, being outdoors, working out, watching something funny, and hanging out with family and friends. The most important thing in my life is my relationship with Christ. I am always falling but I strive to look more like Christ every day. Without Him I am nothing.
ABOUT LANE
My husband is Lane Doughtie. He is simply amazing. He works for Americorps. He works with high school kids where he helps prepare them for college or vocational school. He is twenty three years old, grew up in Allen, TX and has three sisters and a brother. He attended UNT and graduated May 08 with a degree in Marketing. He loves playing video games and is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Lane is a man after God’s own heart and inspires me every day to seek Christ in everything.
We now live in Mesquite, TX and attend church at Emmaus Church in Rockwall, TX. We enjoy connecting with friends, hanging out with family, and having fun together! I am very blessed to have a husband who loves and fears the Lord. We are broken people and constantly realizing the selfishness that is inside us. God is so good though and loves us so much. We want to share that love with everyone!
