I’m so sorry that I haven’t kept y’all updated like I should. Time is flying by and I can’t believe we only have a month and a half left on the race. Here are a few things that have happened since I wrote my last blog in Costa Rica:
-
We had an event called “The Awakening” with 3 other squads at the end of our time in Costa Rica, one of which was another Gap Year Squad. We went to a camp in the mountains (the same place we went to for our midpoint debrief). We had times of worship, lessons, and just hanging out with other people, getting to hear about their race. Right after that we headed to Ecuador.
-
When we got to Ecuador, we started working with a ministry called Dunamis up in the mountains that will be a home for girls who have gotten out of sex trafficking. We helped build a wall around the property, clean up the property and paint a house. I was up at 11,000 feet, so the altitude was pretty intense at first. Most of us had colds or stomach issues, and we would get out of breath super fast. Hydration was very important and so is wearing sunscreen, because the sun is twice as intense here as in like Texas. So you’ll get fried pretty fast.
-
I signed up for an internship in Swaziland this summer. I will fly from Ecuador there and will be there for 2 months. I will be helping lead teams from churches across the U.S. I also found out that my brother will be there and we will get to fly back together on August 5th.
-
I got to see my parents about a month ago for a week. They flew here for PVT. We got to do ministry together and also hangout and explore Quito together. It was super awesome to have them here and see them after seven months of being away from home. It gave me a boost to keep going and they were very encouraging on helping me stay focused on now and not the future.
-
After being at Dunamis for two weeks, PVT for a week, and then being back at Dunamis for another week and a half, we moved into the city of Quito. We are now staying at Casa Blanca, which is like the base here. Our hosts are Fabi and Mabe and they are super awesome!

Since being in Quito, our guys team got to choose our ministry for the last two months of the race. They gave us a list of five ministries and their descriptions, we talked and prayed about it as a team and then told the leaders. For the next two months we will be working with CRU/Campus Crusade. We are working at 3 different high schools throughout the week. During our time there we are helping teach them English, watch videos, and discuss the videos with them.
Here are some pictures from the past two months.

Also, you may have noticed my fundraising bar looks different. That is for my internship that I will be doing in Swazi, so if you would like to donate towards that, it would be greatly appreciated and would help my family out a lot, especially with plane tickets.
Ways you can be praying for me…
-
For me to stay focused on ministry here and on my race.
-
For patience in waiting on what I will do in the future.
-
For our team to continue pressing into each other and making the best of our last two months.
-
Energy and health for our squad.
-
For positive attitudes.
Thank you so much for your support and for reading my blogs. I am about to post three more, so be on the lookout for those.
Yours in Christ,
Landon Mullins
