On December 26th, we were out at a farm near Heredia doing ministry. Ben, Zach G, Zach T, and I went to help move some logs, so that we could build a bathroom at the farm. There were alot of logs, so we decided it would be more effective to throw them down the trail in increments instead of carrying them all. I went to pick up one of the logs at the bottom of the hill and hear “Crap! Watch out!” As soon as I heard that, a log hits me in the head. I stumbled backwards into the little creek behind me full of rocks. I was in shock. What just happened? The guys run over and stand me up.  As soon as I stood up, blood started dripping down my face and all over the ground. They walked me up the hill to the pickup truck. Zach G took his shirt off and put it on my head (my hero lol). We rode in the back of the truck down the road and got our squad leader and ministry host. We got in Pastor Rene’s car and drove to the first clinic. When we got there, it was closed. And by closed I mean the building was completely gone haha. We then went to the hospital. I got 15 stitches on the top of my head and then my sweet squad leader, Christie, took us to Taco Bell for lunch to lighten the mood. As all of this is happening, Zach G is wearing Christie’s grandmother’s rain jacket with no shirt on.

A week goes by and it is now time to get my stitches out. We take Uber to the clinic, wait for a few hours, go to several windows, and then the doctor tells us that we will have to come back tomorrow, because the paper I have says to come back on January 3rd, not January 2nd. So we went back the next day, waited more, and went to more windows. As we were waiting in the hallway to get my stitches taken out, CJ and I had a great conversation about life and what’s going on. We finished talking and were standing up against a wall in the hallway. I started feeling weird so I sat down, then someone in a wheelchair needed to get by, so I stood back up. As I stood there I got really hot and then really cold, everything started going black. Then next thing I know I wake up on this bed and the doctor starts asking me questions like if I know what happened, etc. I was honestly so scared and couldn’t believe that I had just passed out in the middle of the hallway. Apparently, I was standing there and fell straight over, away from CJ, and then hit the ground. Just to the left of my left eye I had a cut and my left shoulder/back also had a cut. I got 2 more stitches next to my eye and they then took the other ones in my head out. It was a pretty rough day. Coming back after the doctor was hard too. Everyone was asking me about it and I honestly just didn’t want to talk about it. I was sad, but also kind of mad that God would let this happen. Why me? Again? Really? What is the purpose for this? I still honestly don’t know why God put me through those hard times, but I believe that there was a reason, even if I don’t know what it is. I got my stitches out on January 11th, so I am now stitch free and all healthy. Please pray it stays that way! Thank you for your prayers and support.

Yours in Christ,
