Dear all who may be reading,
For the past couple of years since graduating high school I have been working as a server at Cracker Barrel. I have been working there since I was 16 years old and for the most part I love it! I have the opportunity everyday to meet so many new people. Whether that be through the guests that would come in to eat, or the employees I had the opportunity to work along side. Because of my job, my work schedule is constantly changing which makes it difficult to be as involved in my church as much as I’d like to be.
I did however, have the opportunity to go on my first missions trip outside of the U.S. through my church, and it really opened my eyes to the world. On this trip I got to go to Quito, Ecuador to bring Christmas to the children and locals of the city. Through this trip I saw first hand the effect that poverty can bring to a family who’s only source of income is picking through the garbage for items they can sell for profit. I was also able to see the pure joy of some of the locals who got to experience Christmas for the first time! The children were able to have presents of their own, and their parents were gifted with groceries to feed their families. It was after that trip that I knew that God had gifted me with a heart for missions. And now, 3 years later, would be calling on me to go on an amazing journey called the World Race.
The World Race is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children that have been rescued from human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Lord’s love to all nations.
I will face many challenges throughout the World Race, but as I prepare for my journey, one of my biggest challenges is financial support. Like many other mission organizations, World Race participants are required to raise financial support. In order to leave fully funded by August 2018, I need to raise a total of $18,100. This money will cover all expenses during the 11 months of my trip.
As I take this large leap of faith, would you prayerfully consider donating to my fund? Any amount would be deeply appreciated, whether that would be partnering with me by donating monthly or just a one time donation. Along with financial support, I am in desperate need of prayers! This is a huge journey and I can’t do this on my own. When you receive this letter, even if you choose to only be a prayer partner, please get back to me and let me know you have received it! You can also get in contact with me through my blog(lakotakoller.theworldrace.org) or if you want to stay connected throughout my journey. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and have a blessed day!
Your’s in Christ,
– Lakota
