Thinking back seven months ago, the thought of traveling around the world with 29 strangers was a faint dream. The past ten days I had the opportunity to travel to Gainesville, GA to meet those twenty-nine individuals that are now my squad mates, and even more importantly, family.
Even though we have just met we have already endured so much together. Camping in the rainstorms of Georgia can really test your ability to love and show grace to the people around you. I can say that we did it. We where able to find joy during the wet rainy nights and early mornings of packing our packs back up. We where wet and didn’t smell the best, but we found a common source of unity worshipping God. Through every simulation that we went through, we chose to serve one another. We where taught that “Life is ministry and ministry is life.” Living it out this past week shows me that we are ready to take this adventure on, together across the world. Allowing God to be first in our lives and laying down our preferences to be fully one with our God.
No one said that this race would be easy. In fact, I have been assured that it will be hard, uncomfortable, and at times my faith will be tested. In those moments I have to make the choice to press into God’s word and trust that He has a plan. God has been teaching me that in order for me to grow in His love, I have to be open to feedback. I am excited to be challenged, to step out of my normal, and fully immerse myself into the unknown in order to tell people about Jesus!
