It has almost been a full month since my last blog post! And let me tell you, those three weeks have flown by and filled with so much. In three weeks HKS spent about 90 hours traveling on trains, an over night bus with two border crossings, and many miles of walking around cities. HKS got the opportunity to travel to Uzbekistan and serve a local church by pouring into the youth and helping out with English classes. The youth were incredible. They are so young, yet have a huge influence in there church and the community. It is not often that a sixteen year old is leading the children’s ministry!

After our time in Uzbekistan, our team crossed the border into Kyrgyzstan where I have spent my last two weeks doing a little ATL and spending some much needed time with my squad and my team. We where all able to spend Thanksgiving together eating good food and laughing with one another. My team was able to pour into the community of the hostel that we were staying at, sharing testimonies at local English classes, and prayer walking for Kyrgyzstan .

A couple of days ago our leaders arrived which means debrief was underway. After two months, the entire squad is back together and taking some time to relax before we head out to Africa! That’s right a continent change. Even though I am very happy about changing continents, this also means I have arrived to the part of the race where change is upon us. The teams have been switched up and I am with I new group of ladies. I will tell you all about that in a later post! But for now let’s focus on HKS.

HKS has been together for six months. We have seen each other at our best and have seen each other at our worst. When you sign up for the race, you are also signing up to live in community. However, you don’t get to pick the community that is around you. With that being said, HKS you have taught me a lot. You have taught me what it means to fight for community when all you want to do is give up. You have taught me that complete opposites can become a dynamic duo. You have taught me that God redeems our pasts and you get to live in freedom from that. You have taught me that listening is one of the greatest tools in life. You have taught me that just because you don’t agree on everything, there is space to seek understanding. These past six months have been incredible and healing! Thanks for letting me be apart of your journey!
