Today I come to you writing from a familiar place with familiar smells and views. If you didn’t know our squad has switched continents. We are officially in Africa and more specifically Ethiopia. Upon arrival our squad went on a little two day excursion to the country side where we joined another squad. This event was called the Awakening. The Awakening was put on by our peers and was an opportunity to encourage one another with the testimonies of what God has already been doing through us on the race.
The three days where packed with sessions about intimacy, missions, and intercession followed by practical application where we got to go out and evangelize to the local community. I was able to walk on dirt roads and pray for families along the way. We where welcomed in to a home and offered authentic Ethiopian coffee made over an open fire in front of our eyes. I enjoyed my time getting to share stories with others and to take time to reflect on what God has been doing these past four months.
With that being said, God is so good. He has crazy plans mapped out for me that I can even fathom. Some days I can get so overwhelmed with the amount of thoughts that go through my head but God is there to sort it all out for me. I have realized that I am so hungry for more of God lately that I tend to over think everything. I’ve been obsessed with hearing God’s voice lately. Almost so much that I am also distracting myself from seeing what God is already doing. I have an idea of how I want it to happen but thats not God’s plan and I need to get on board with that. He has been using my teammates and others to speak truth into my life. And now it is up to me to believe those truths in my own heart.
I am excited for what Africa holds. I am excited do do life with God and encounter him on the daily. I’m even more excited that I have a community around me who loves Jesus and is on fire to learn more about him. I am on a new team with a new group of women who treasure the moments they have with God. Cheers to the next three months!
