With the possibility of going home lurking, I’ve been thinking a lot about fundraising. My deadline has already passed and AIM has given us much grace when it comes to lacking funds, but at some point the money indeed runs out.
As you can imagine, raising support from half-way across the world is challenging. It takes a lot of faith and even more prayer. But if there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that none of this is about me.
Prayer takes the focus off of what I can be doing. When we pray, we turn our eyes away from what we can do–even off of what other people can do for us, and we turn our eyes upon Jesus. When we do this, as the sweet old hymn says, “The things of this earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
Sorry to say that I’m not talking about a quick 1 minute prayer. I’m talking about knees in the dirt, pray until your voice is gone kind of prayer. I’m also not saying that this is the way we need to pray, I’m just saying that if we truly want God to bless us, then we need to be willing to fight for it. We don’t have to pray eloquently or even out loud, but we must come boldly before the throne of grace. We can’t come shuddering, asking for the bare minimum. We need to pray audaciously for abundant blessing.
You may not realize it, but God WANTS to BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!
“I will enjoy blessing them. With all my heart and soul I will faithfully plant them in this land.” Jeremiah 32:41
The enemy continues feeding us the age old lie: that God is not good. Or maybe for you, it’s that God withholds His goodness (specifically based upon your own actions.) Let me remind you that this is not how God works! His love has nothing to do with you, just like support raising has nothing to do with me. It has EVERYTHING to do with HIM!!!
There is another lie that the enemy tends to throw in the mix when addressing God’s blessings and goodness–that God is not able. This becomes a far bigger issue–going from questioning God’s willingness to His ability.
We’ve all been there; we’ve all had our doubts, but today God confronted me on this one. He wanted to make sure that I am really living out what I believe.
He asked me: “Lacey, is there any limit to my power?”
Of course, I answered, “No…there is nothing YOU cannot do!”
“OK, then PRAY BIG OR GO HOME!”
BOOM!!! There He goes again, hitting me hard.
So basically, He just said: you’re going to have to fight harder for this, or you’re going home.
And so, I’m doing what He said. I’m praying some BIG prayers and I have complete faith that the Lord WILL answer them. I’m living out my belief that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!
I’m praying for my whole squad to be fully funded by the end of the month.
I’m praying for complete healing, body and soul, over ALL my loved ones–that the lame would walk, the blind would see, the sick be made well!
I’m praying for God’s glory light to explode over the world, that His name would be known among the nations: every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord!
I’m praying these things and so much more…
And I’m asking you to join me in praying BIG–Pray BIG prayers for your own life. Pray BIG prayers for the lives around you. Pray BIG prayers for your nation. Pray BIG prayers for OUR world! And just like Jacob, don’t leave until He blesses you. He is not offended by your faith or your fight. In fact, He finds joy in your determination and your trust in His power…and like I said, He LOVES to bless His children!
Keep in mind that the goal is not to get what you want from God, but to get what HE wants for you. He wants you to be healed. He wants you to be financially secure. He wants you to hear His voice. He wants to see your husband come to Christ. He wants your marriage to be reformed. He wants your sister to be free from addiction. HE WANTS TO BLESS YOU!!!!!
