Hi friends!!
It feels like forever since I’ve posted a blog…which it has honestly been too long! Month one, round two of the race has come and gone and I’ve been a little MIA. I wanna apologize for not doing a good job of looping y’all in on my life on the field. Also, I want to say thank you to those who’ve been so intentional with me despite my lack of reaching out and also for checking in with my family for any updates. SO, I am writing this blog for a little overview of my life right now!
5 things you should know about my life:
- I LOVE LOVE LOVE my squad! This is a group of warriors who are some of the most intentional people I know. They seek growth like no other and already in month one I have seen them step into so much boldness and freedom! (I will have another blog coming soon, so more to come on the squad!)
- Squad Leading is AMAZING and also hard. This is a season of getting to really invest in the squad. With that I am also learning how to take care of myself from a position of leadership. There has been a lot of stripping down on my own heart so that I don’t lead out of my own flesh but solely dependence on the Lord. So all in all it’s hard but SO GOOD.
- Guatemala is BEAUTIFUL! We live on a base where we have amazing views all around us. There are mountains or Volcanos in every direction. This past week we had month one debrief at Lake Atitlan, and let me tell you- I was in constant awe! The views are incredible. I could have sat at that lake for the entire 9 months and still not had enough of the Lord’s majesty in His creation there. If you ever get the opportunity, I highly recommend going there!
- My team is seriously a gift from the Lord!
We have the most intentional coaches, The Cocos. They are the parents of the squad although they don’t stay on the field with us, they love and care for this squad in incredible ways! I know we are constantly covered in prayers from them!
I have been so blessed to get another season of leading with Madie Goodwin (our mentor). I am constantly learning from her and her wisdom from the Lord. I love the fun and endless laughs she brings AND also her willingness to sit down and check on me as person! She’s an incredible leader, friend, encourager, etc. and I’d follow her anywhere!
My co squad leader, Connor Gaul- we both just got off the field from our race and hopped back out with Gap W. I am thankful for someone who has been able to relate to the quick transition. He does an incredible job of bringing perspective because there are times I can get stuck in the weeds of things but he brings a new lens to view a situation and it has been a breath of fresh air while leading Gap W!
The Lord knew the team that would work best in leading Gap W and I couldn’t have picked a better group to work with and to just do life with! Thanks God! - Ministry- In this season my ministry is the squad, Gap W. But as I lead them I also get to go to their ministries as well. We have 7 different teams and while we serve here in Guatemala, each team goes to a different village for the 3 months. Their ministries look a little different-Some go up into the mountains and are working to reach new people while they play soccer, host women’s events, lead VBS’s for the local kids and just go house to house in the village. Other teams teach at local schools or help out at a church. Our guys team leads sports ministry and help out in several of the villages. Another team helps build stoves in homes while another team ministers to the local women by having cooking classes in their homes! There is a wide variety of things and I am sure I haven’t even touched on all of them, but the teams are doing incredible things in their communities!
This is another season of the World Race but it has been so different in many ways! I am thankful for the stretching and growing it is bringing into my life! Coming into squad leading, I was under the illusion this was going to be 9 months for the squad and my life would just be on pause but that has been anything but true- More on that to come, but for now I just wanted to give you all a little glimpse into my life! Thanks for all your support and encouragement!
Prayer Requests:
- Guatemala- people in our communities to come to know the Lord and solely Him. They believe in several different things and hope that one will work but we know that the Lord is the only Way!
- The Squad- to continue finding freedom and fully receive the love of the Father. Also, for all sickness to stay away!
- My team and myself- wisdom and discernment as we lead the squad and to find rest even in the busy days!
- Fundraising- I am still short of my goal of $3800. Thank you for everyone who has already donated! I am loving what I am doing and firmly believe the Lord will provide but I could use prayers for it to never be a distraction for myself.
