Well y’all, HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I hope you all have a wonderful day full of yummy food, family or friends, and so so much thanksgiving to our Father.
Honestly, today brings me many mixed emotions. I am fighting the homesickness and desire to be home on this holiday, but at the same time I truly wouldn’t want to be anywhere other than here for this holiday. I am so grateful to spend the day in South Africa with so many friends who over the past 5 months have become like family. We began our day with some acoustic worship and will end it with a feast including ham, dressing, casseroles, and pies- just like I would back at home. Today, I wanted to sit and write down some of the things I am grateful for.
- I am thankful to be on this adventure. That God has invited me here and wants to use me in mighty ways.
- I am so thankful for my family and for their constant love and support! Love you Mom, Dad, Chase, Cassidy, Ganny, and for each of you in the Rupert family!
- I am thankful for all of my lovely friends back at home. Thank you for being you and for loving me so well despite our distance! I miss you guys so much!
- I’m thankful for everyone at HCBC-GT for supporting me, teaching me, and following me along on this journey to spread God’s kingdom.
- I am thankful for the people in my grandma’s Circle 9 small group for all of the love, prayers, and support that has been sent my way.
- I’m thankful for people who I’ve never met but still love and pray for me like I’m family. Thank you Erica Hill, the sweet 82 year old cleaning lady at my dad’s work, for your kindness and prayers.
- I’m thankful for each of the people that I have met on this journey: leaders, squamates, teammates, and people that I met both in Guatemala and South Africa.
- I’m thankful for the people who have discipled and mentored me over the many years and have made me into the person I am today.
- I am thankful for the many little things God puts my life that bring me joy: endless tea, stories, music, wildflowers, goofy children, cooking with sweet ladies at ministry, art, and many many others.
- I am thankful that God always has more for us. More love, more grace, more peace, more lessons to teach, more things to learn, more intimacy to find.. there’s always more!!
- I am thankful for the gospel and the power and authority that has been given to us through it. That God would sacrifice his one and only son so that we could be in relationship with him for eternity. He deserves all the praise and thanksgiving!
