Our last day in Da Nang was very different than our average day of teaching.

Fisher’s Superkids is a non-religious school – as it legally cannot be tied to any religious affiliation due to government regulations. That being said, a lot of the staff is either atheist and not sure what they believe, or Buddhist. Either way, about 90% of the staff working at the school are searching for a spiritual awareness. They are searching for God.

The last Friday of the school year, instead of throwing a holiday party, the Directors threw a curve ball. They bought the entire staff breakfast and gathered them all together to volunteer!

We traveled together to an area of Da Nang pretty off the beaten path. That morning and afternoon – the staff and our team served at a combined elderly home and home for children who have special needs.

According to society – these people have no worth and are forgotten. The home is understaffed and don’t have nearly enough products to provide for the amount of people living there.

Who other than our God could’ve brought these exact men, women, and children from all over the world in that exact day and time in order to be shown love and affection that reflect no ones ability, simply Gods unconditional love and provision!?

That day, I got to spend time hanging out milk and crackers to the elderly women who had never ending smiles and hugs to share. In the afternoon is when I saw God the most clearly. I worked in the room with the kids with special needs.

These kids live their whole lives laying down on mats in a room because there are not enough hands to hold them, feed them, change them, and clean them. A room of seven kids had two women staff working and that’s it.

Getting to sing and pray and hold these children were the best and most gracious Christmas gifts I could’ve ever received.

God changed hearts – miracles happened – prayers were said – hymns were sung – and God was present!
