My name is Kylie Alexis Smith. I am currently a senior at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Whoop! I graduate in December of 2016 with an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Leadership and Development and a minor in International Agriculture Development. I am 22 years old and am beyond excited to begin the World Race.

I have lived in Texas all of my life and have always had an inclination for adventure. I was baptized into and grew up in the Methodist church. I have two amazing brothers who have taught me more about myself than I ever thought possible. I am considered by every definition a true Daddy’s girl. My best friend just so happens to also be my Mom. Long story short, my family makes up my whole heart. Who I am equates to a wonderful collage of my family’s diverse personalities and characteristics.

Since I was 15, I have felt the Holy Spirit leading me and preparing me for a life of international missions. At 16, I served in Kharkiv, Ukraine at an Orphanage Summer Camp through Servant life. At 19, I traveled to Lima, Peru and served the elderly in a village called Villa El Salvador. This year for Spring Break, I spent my time serving the village of Hawaii, Guatemala through environmental conservation efforts and sustainable agriculture education. Every day in between these experiences, I learn more about our Creator and His insurmountable love for us through my community and most importantly my roommates.

I love to hike and explore as much as I can. I enjoy reading anything I can get my hands on. Listening to music (specifically The Beatles) and dancing as much as possible are two pretty serious hobbies of mine – my roommates can absolutely attest to this! I love road trips and waking up in new cities. I strive daily to help others in anyway I can. I love making memories and taking lots of pictures. So, I imagine my blogs might end up being more pictures than words.

I have always known I wanted to go into missions, but I have yet to feel called to a particular area or people group to serve long term. I am open and looking forward to outrageous adventures and gaining as much experience and exposure as possible through the World Race.

Choosing the Expedition Route, which will place me in the 10/40 Window, was not a very difficult decision for me. My senior year of high school, I interned for a non-profit organization called Blueprint Ministries in San Antonio, Texas. The founder, DeeDee Sedgwick, inspired me on a daily basis to seek God fervently and love others deeply. She used to tell me about her daughter’s heart for spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth. I remember listening to her stories and praying to God that one day He would use me in the same way. To answer the call of the Lord asking me to go to the darkest areas of the world, the places that need the love and freedom of the Gospel the most, was a call I believe I have been waiting for my whole life. Now, Jesus has answered this incredible prayer by bringing me out of a season of waiting on the Lord in preparation and into a season of fighting the GOOD FIGHT.

Moving forward, I ask you to join me in this adventure! Subscribe to my blog and stay updated on my fundraising progress, lessons learned in preparation, crazy stories from training camp with my squad, and most importantly how you can pray with me. As my community, your prayers will sustain me in ways I can hardly fathom at the moment. In times of hardship and doubt, it will be your prayers that keep moving me forward and encouraging me in my walk with Christ. Please pray:

  • That I would allow God to be my portion and my strength on a daily basis, in every situation, and in every conversation.
  • That I would depend solely on Him to be my peace and my joy.
  • That fear would have no hold on my heart.
  • That I would chase after the Lord in boldness.

And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'” – Mark 16:15
