Life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately, from the sudden death of my dad, the unplanned 2 weeks that Joey and I spent in Canada immediately following the news, to us getting ready to re-launch as alumni squad leaders on the World Race in September. We have had a lot of people asking us what our plans are, where we are going, and what we will be doing, so I just wanted to give our family, friends, and blog subscribers the DL on where we are at right now, and what is going on this next few months.
Currently, Joey is employed as the interim youth pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Midland, TX and has moved into the final few weeks of his employment. Joey’s first fiction novel , The Mountains, which was inspired by his experiences on our original World Race in 2013 was officially published on May 13th! And is available for purchase here: http://kellanpublishing.3dcartstores.com/The-Mountains_p_40.html
Following our return from Canada, I notified my employer at the Genesis Centre’s Twice Around thrift store that I will no longer be working for them as of the end of May. The first week of June will be comprised mostly of the two of us teaching 6th graders at a VBS that is put on through the church, followed by a week of us packing up our apartment and moving everything into “storage” (my in-laws garage).
On June 18th we will set out on a 10 day mission trip to Uganda with a team of 14 people from First Pres. While there, we will be helping with prison ministry, a medical clinic, trail and school evangelism, a women’s conference, and a crusade at the local church, as well as Joey and I helping to document the whole trip through photo’s and a blog, which can be found here: http://midlandfpcmissionteam.blogspot.com/
We will arrive back in Midland, TX on June 30th and will immediately set out on July 2nd for World Race training camp in Gainesville, GA. While there, we will FINALLY get to meet the squad that we will be leading for 5 months beginning in September!!!! As well as find out what route we will be travelling on with them! We are so excited to finally get to meet the amazing group of young adults that we are being given the opportunity to invest in, empower, and disciple as they do ministry all over the world!
Immediately following training camp we will be returning home to Canada to celebrate the marriage of my older brother to his fiancée and love of his life. We will be staying there for a few weeks so that we can spend some time with our family and friends. We have only been back once since our wedding last September, and are really excited to have the chance to get to spend a good chunk of time with the Canucks that we love so much. After which, we will be returning to Texas to pack, say goodbye to our family and friends here, and prepare for launch, which should be taking place sometime during the first week of September.
We are so excited for what the Lord is doing in our lives in this next season, and are equally as excited to get to share it all with you! Please be praying for safe travels, as well as rest, in what looks to be a pretty crazy transition period. Also, we are still in the process of raising funds for this next leg of the journey, so prayer for that would also be appreciated. If you feel led to give you can access our support raising accounts through either of our blogs, just click on the link that says Support Me and it will take you through the appropriate channels.
Thank you all so much for loving and supporting us on this crazy adventure called life!
