There are three kids in my family, my two brothers, Mike and Chris, and then myself. The only girl. Growing up I always wanted a sister, someone that I could talk to about everything and vice versa, someone that I could share clothes with, laugh with, cry with, and just be best friends with. Someone that I could cuddle up on the couch with on a Sunday night and watch movies with, someone that I could go hiking with, and exploring with, someone that would challenge me, and that I could challenge. Someone that I could always be myself with without fear of judgment or rejection. Well, the miracle of my post hysterectomy mother popping out another papoose never happened.

But still, God knows the desires of our hearts, and just because something doesn’t happen the way we expect them to, doesn’t mean He won’t work them out in another way.

Fifteen to twenty years later, I am still the only girl in my family. A youth leader at my church, and loving it. A cute little chick named Victoria enters the scene. Love at first sight.

This girl is special, I mean REALLY special. And I’m not just saying that, she is something else. She is beautiful, funny, sweet, mature, and intuitive. She has amazing style and taste that is all her own. She carries herself with a grace that few people her age possess, she is magnetic and draws people to the space that she occupies simply by being herself, and she loves to laugh and have fun, but can also be serious and sweet. She is as soft as a marshmallow on the inside, and feels deeply, she has a beautiful heart and is gifted with the ability to see people for who they really are, deep down inside. She is incredibly intelligent, and gives amazing insight into situations. I could keep going, but I am afraid she won’t be able to fit through her front door after reading this if I do.

Today is Victoria’s 15th Birthday!

I am so sad to be missing it! And so, here is my shout-out from Malaysia!!! Happy 15th Birthday babe!!! I hope you have an amazing day today that it is a day filled with joy, and love, and laughter. That it is everything you hoped it would be and more. That you get stuffed on cake and delicious treats. That it is a day to remember. This next year is going to be amazing, mostly because you are amazing and God has amazing things for you. Be blessed on this very special day, and remember that you are loved, not only today, but everyday. I love you just as if you were my real sister, you are everything I always wanted and so much more. Now wipe those tears of joy away and go celebrate!!!!

God knew what both of us needed, and He gave it to us. Maybe not in the way that either of us thought, but in a far superior way in my opinion.

Love you Boo <3 and see ya in less than a month
