Before I start let me set the scene for you. I’ve been on the race for about a month now and I’ve learned more here than I have in my whole 18 years of existence. With that being said, these past couple weeks have been all about freedom. And as of right now, I’m currently at our month 1 debrief, which is where we take time to reflect on this past month and all that the Lord has done. The leaders of my squad have declared this week as a week of breakthrough. Which is ironic because the Lord has been teaching me about freedom and what that looks like these past couple days.
Now that I’ve set the scene for you, let me take you to night one of debrief. Your girl was in the bed with a migraine. Her hydro flask had managed to fall on her in the middle of the night, and her phone plummeted down to the bottom bunk to the say the least. I woke up a good 10 times and God bless Mary Parker for me literally shaking the bottom bunk all night. However, I managed to get a little sleep and when I did- I had this dream about a boy and some bread. Now this next part is an excerpt from my journal and so just bare with me.
“The boy was acting up. He was mean, picked fights, and speakers death. He was angry and could care less for authority. However, I left the boy and went and got him a piece of bread. The people around me were confused because why would I give gifts to somebody who has only caused me pain. But the boy was the most confused. I scooped him up in my arms and he wrestled me but I said, “Here take this.” And I handed him the bread. He looked at me hurt and confused and said, “I can’t pay for it.” And I looked back him and said, “that’s ok. It’s free.”
Crazy. You see when I woke up, I was shocked and God spoke to me and said “everything you want, you can have because it’s free.” You see God was trying to show me that freedom isn’t something that I have to pay for or work for, because Jesus already paid the price. God was showing me that even when I wrestle him and cause him hurt and pain, he is still here to scoop me up because he loves me. One of my squad mates said it best. She said, “He loves me enough to meet me where I’m at,” and that’s spot on, because Jesus meets you in your distress and frustration and says that it has no place in your life. He says that fear & anxiety have to go in the name of Jesus. Therefore, he takes those things and gives you joy, assurance, and confirmation. He’s not finished with you yet. He has all these things in store for you and it’s nothing you have to work for, but instead you just have to want it. Because it’s free for you to have. Joy is yours. Christ’s love is yours. A fearless attitude is yours. The father has an abundance of things and blessings for you, you just have to surrender and come to him. Because He is for you. And freedom is found in him and in him only.
I’ll leave you with this.
Galatians 5:1.
Go ahead and look it up and dwell in the freedom Jesus has set out for you.
