Insecurity. Is. A. Killer.
It destroys, it ruins your day, fuels your pride then tears it down. It will rob you of everything- including your worth.
Around month 2 in Guatemala, my squad mentor gave me a book by Beth Moore called “Goodbye Insecurity”. I took the book with open arms but in the inside I thought to myself there is no way I struggle with insecurity. And if I do, it’s only a little bit. Well. News flash, if you got even a little bit of insecurity- you might as well have it all. Tough pill to swallow, trust me- while I was reading this book, every page made me squirm and uncomfortable. However, if I’ve learned anything from The Lord, it is that
INSECURITY IS NOT YOUR PORTION.
THE LORD PROMISES SECURITY IN HIM.
Don’t believe me? Look.
“I will be the same until your old age, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you.”
Isaiah 46:4
Let’s break this down.
“I will be the same until your old age, and I will bear you up when you turn gray.”
This screams SECURITY. If The Lord God Almighty is the same everyday then you best believe you can count on him. For anything. Your security lies in him, there is no need in trying to find it anywhere else, you think you lost your security? Run to the Father. Best place to start.
“I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you.”
The Lord is perfect. There is not a thing wrong in him or about him. He lacks no good thing. Amen hallelujah. The cool thing about The Lord is that he also created you. Your identity lies in him and part of your identity is security. This speaks volumes into self image and self worth. When you bash yourself, you are bashing the creator. You see, that’s why insecurity is such a killer. Because insecurity tells you lies that may sound true, but that’s because insecurity is deception and Satan is the master of deception. Here me out for a second because I think we are on to something- insecurity kills your worth, steals your joy, and destroys relationships. Sound familiar? Because last time I checked, the devil came to kill, steal, and destroy. Insecurity is literally the devil. But thank you Jesus, that we have the power and authority through Christ to tell the devil to get the heck out of here.
The devil says you need to lose 10 lbs to be secure, The Lord says his dwelling place is beautiful.
The devil says that you need a man to feel beautiful, The Lord says you are made perfect in his image.
The devil says that since your father ran out on you- you aren’t worth fighting for, The Lord says that he is your Heavenly Father and he loves you so much that he sent his son to die on a cross for you.
Are you seeing the pattern? The devil really isn’t that clever after all- because once you believe the things The Lord says about you and have called you into, Satan literally has no standing ground.
The devil attacks your security because he is insecure. He knows the battle is already won and he is trembling in his shoes, he wants you to feel the same. But thank you Jesus you are secure woman/ man and if you don’t feel that way yet, hold on tight because it’s already part of your portion- you just gotta take hold of it. Don’t let the devil rob you of your security- he already has his hands full of his own insecurity to deal with anyways…
You are chosen. You are worth it. You are a royal priesthood.
