I am apart of the Fusion route, I decided to follow God which led me to learn that I would be traveling with a group of people from all over. These people are insane… but I love their insanity.

I was asked what have I learned about being on Fusion, and to be honest what I have learned should have been a “no kidder” situation. In order to tell you what happened we will have to go back in time to month two of my race.

Once upon a time in a far away land…. God had decided to have a team of six girls. All but one was from America. Her name was Hakyoung and she was from the land of South Korea. This brave girl traveled to Thailand following a calling… a calling that she wasn’t sure of. But none the less she got on a plane, and went to training camp…. Where she met the five other girls God had intended her to meet for her to grow, and to also help them to grow also. One of her teammates was named Kylee. Their relationship started off normal, they were teammates, soon they became close friends, but what they didn’t know is that soon they would be calling each other sisters for the bond was that of a sister.

It was in Cambodia, month two of their journey. Hakyoung, started talking about a Holiday that she and her family celebrated every year that Holiday was called Lunar Moon. She got really excited about this coming up Holiday. Well the day came and went, this new formed team did nothing to celebrate the holiday. Kylee later found out that this was the first time that this was the first time Hakyoung had missed celebrating this holiday with her family. What made Kylee’s stomach turn was knowing that this was the first time that Hakyoung had missed the Lunar Celebration… With a new found flame, Kylee was determined to celebrate the rest of the holidays with her dear teammate. The team gathered and all agreed to make Hakyoung feel more welcomed, and they all did their best.
Traveling into Vietnam for their month three of their race, Hakyoung and Kylee’s relationship got stronger, month three is when they started calling each other “sister.” As Hakyoung relationship with every individual on the team grew stronger, as a whole time we soon found out that even though she was very dear to all them, they still fell short. Hakyoung still felt like an outsider on the team.

At the end of the month three Hakyoung through painful tears told the leaders how she felt like an outsider on the team, not with just one person. But as a whole group she didn’t feel like she fit it.

Sadly, the month four she was placed in a different group. She still keeps in contact with her old teammates, and they all miss her. However she is much happier where she is at, and for that Kylee is happy for her forever sister.

The End.

So, if you didn’t know.. I’m Kylee in the story and what I learned from my sister from South Korea is to LISTEN when they are talking about their holidays, celebrations, and what they like eating.

If you are thinking that God is calling you to be apart of the Fusion route please remember that you need to step away from how you grew up. For me I needed to stop being a Western… which is hard. But being apart of Fusion means you are adopting the homes of everyone on your team. Be proud from where you come from, just don’t flaunt it. Because it’s not worth making your teammate feel like they don’t belong.
