For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Kylene Wilson (affectionately referred to as Kylee). I was born and raised in the Omaha, Nebraska metro area. I love interacting with other people and learning from them; consequently, I spend little time on self-reflection. I hope you’ll forgive my lack of self-awareness and focus on my passion for serving others.
My family and friends describe me as loyal, kind-hearted, and passionate. All of which are characteristics that occasionally get me into trouble…. Too much of a good thing. However, I know that God gave me those traits for a reason: Serving Him.
Ever since graduating high school, I have felt as though my life lacked purpose and direction. I knew that God wanted to use me, but I wasn’t sure how. I love my family, friends, and community, but began to feel that God was calling me elsewhere. I didn’t know where. I didn’t know why. I definitely didn’t know how.
That’s when I saw (via Facebook (thank you, technology)) that one of my friends was participating in a “World Race.” My honest initial reaction, “What?” Shortly followed by a, “No, God, that’s not for me.” However, I was curious. I researched. I read….. and I prayed.
Have you ever noticed that prayer often takes us on unexpected routes? God was telling me that my next journey wouldn’t be something I could do on my own. It wouldn’t be easy, predictable, or anywhere near my comfort zone. In fact, He didn’t want me to take a leisurely stroll through life. He wanted me to join a race, a for souls across the world.
He called me to join the World Race.
That’s who I am. I’m Kylee. I’m not sure where I’m going, but I do know Who’s leading the way.
