Greetings from Quito, Ecuador!!
Adjusting to life in Quito has been very challenging but so very rewarding. The Lord is teaching us so much about ourselves and what being the church means.
I have officially been here 11 days and it is crazy. Here is a short story about our first Saturday in Quito. My next blog will be more about our ministry and I cant wait to share. For now, please enjoy this short story!
Last Saturday, my team and I decided we were going to use our adventure day to hike a volcano. The seven of us loaded up into a bus and started the treck to Volcano Pichincha. We took the gondala up to the base of the volcano, took some pictures, and started the climb. We climbed about five hours and when we reached the top (not really, some of us physically could not climb anymore), the Lord literally took our breath away and made us speachless.
Looking out over Quito gave each of my teammates something unique. For one, it was the fact that she conquered this volcano, being from the flatlands of North Carolina. For another, it was the beauty that she could capture with her mad photography skills. For others, it felt like home. For me, it felt like the beauty the Lord places before us every single day. We each found something different at the top of that volcano. But we each found the Lord at the top of the volcano.
