After this picture was taken, she fell head first into the river. Her little pigtails dripped with cool, algae water. She face was startled and tears filled up her eyes. Her cries were more like afraid whimpers. Her little body was shivering and she was apprehensive, but she got back in. Her little feet splashed in the water once again, her eyes were filled with joy, and her whimpers turned to laughter.

She knew that although she had fallen once, and could possible fall again, the reward was greater than the risk. She knew that even though there was a possibility of her falling in again, someone would be there to pick her up, hold her shivering body till it was a bit warmer, and then splash in the water with her, once again turning cries to laughter.

Sweet Elle can teach every single one of us about the power of having child like faith.

When something happens in our lives, our first instinct is to run and hide. Hide from what hurt us, what gave us scars, what brings us burdens. But what if we didn’t have to hide from those things? What if we could run at them with all our power and might and tell them, “because I know God is going to protect me and comfort me, I am not afraid of you”?

What is it that you are afraid of in this moment? What is it that you need to run at head on with God running right next to you?

Jump in, dive in, get back in the water, even when it is hard. Even though you have fallen head first, know that the Lord is right there and He is going to hold you when you are shivering. But He is also going to dip your toes back in that water and you have to trust.
