And—just like that—we have one week of ministry under our belts here in Thailand.
One week of college-level chemistry lessons to a group of kids who don’t know what the word “evaporation” means; but, hey…my life is good. Really good.
And this week in Thailand showed me several reasons why:
First, I get to wake up each morning and teach refugee kids who are hungry to learn. And although they don’t understand any of the words coming from my mouth, they still try to hang on to every single phrase.
And this hunger inspires me.
It makes me want more. It makes me want to work harder to achieve all that God has planned for me and my life.
So, yeah—despite the language barrier I love our ministry here. Because every day I get to be inspired by a bunch of refugee kids to continue pursuing what it is the Lord has called me into.
Reason 1 why my life is good.
Second, I get to spend every night worshipping the Creator of the Universe in the middle of his beautiful creation with a bunch of his children who want nothing more in life than to know Him.
Every night, our team joins the kids and a few of the teachers to sing and dance and learn more about Jesus and his great love for us.
For example, last night began with the kids praying together in Burmese. Then, we sang and danced to several Burmese songs followed by a couple of songs in English. Then,
Bekah (who you should definitely go donate to so that she will be fully funded) told the story of Jonah. The rest of us joined a couple of the kids in acting out the tale as she told it. After that, we all watched
The Little Mermaid (one of the kids is absolutely obsessed with mermaids so it made my night just to watch the smile on his face the whole time).
It was such an incredible night of worship and fellowship.
And I get to take part in this glorious celebration of our Savior and the life he gives us night after night here in Thailand.
Reason 2 why my life is good.
Thirdly, I get to spend every single day with a family of six other brothers and sisters in Christ who make every moment unforgettable.
I don’t know if it is possible to go more than 30 seconds without smiling, laughing, or crying around our team. And—typically—all three of those things are happening at the same time. Team Overflow can not be described in words; it can only be experienced.
And that is Reason 3 why my life is good. Really good.
There are countless other reasons why I love the life I’ve been given. But, those three are just a few of the ones that Jesus showed me over the past week.
And I just wanted to share them with you guys.
Not to brag about myself—no. It’s because I want you to be able to see the way that God is moving among these people and in this place; and I want that to give you hope. Hope for your own life wherever it is you are.
Because this isn’t college-level chemistry; it’s actually an extraordinarily simple formula.
It just takes a few really great people and one really mighty and loving God.
Every day of our lives can be like this.
The life of Thai is out there for us all to grab. So take it.
