Other than the occasional Volcano and Beach day, this month was a lot more challenging from the previous month in Guatemala. Traveling all around Nicaragua and finding new ministry sites for Adventure in Missions, definitely had its lows and highs. It has a been a great experience since I love to travel and see the world as well as getting the privilege to meet so many different people and ministries. We have traveled to Managua, Granada, Leon, and Chinandega thus far. It has been a blessing to see how God is moving in all of Nicaragua and to see all the different ministries that accomplish an overarching goal of making Christ known.
This month had its low when everyone got dengue fever in Leon, challenging us to be completely dependent on God for health as well as direction. This was a huge set back in my eyes as we were literally “grounded” in Leon and had to take care of ourselves before ministering to others or traveling. I stayed in a hostel (Sonati) in Leon for 11 days which was nice but I felt very contained as I was either at the hospital or hostel the entire 11 days. Everyone is better now and we took a trip to the beach in Leon with one of our favorite ministry site contacts to relax and regain focus as a team.
I am not exactly sure why God allowed our team to get sick but I do know that it has united our team and allowed me personally to have time to myself and read a book by Francis Chan called “Forgotten God” that I would recommend to everyone. I am currently looking at the situation from a James 1 and Philippians 3 perspective by considering it pure joy when we face trials because it builds perseverance, which we need to press on to win the prize of which God has called each of us to.
- Please continue to pray for our teams’ health as the effects of dengue can last up to 2 weeks.
- Pray for the rest of our month and travel to Costa Rica to go smoothly.
- Pray for my personal growth in the Holy Spirit being able to listen to and discern His teaching
- Pray for the people we encounter on our trip and that God will prepare their hearts to hear the Gospel
Thank you for praying and don’t forget to give thanks in all circumstances because this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. We have so much to be thankful for.
