It’s time for Africa!

Yes, Africa is here! We left late May 1st and arrived in Johannesburg South Africa at 9 AM on the 2nd. We took a bus to Swaziland, making three stops at Manzini, El shaddai and then finally Nsoko near the Eastern border. I will be in Nsoko for the month of May and have yet to fully understand what we will be doing here specifically. Even if I did have an outline it is never the same as most missionaries in foreign countries work on a whim and we would be lucky to know what we are doing the week of. This month in Nepal was just that as we often found out the day before what to expect the next day. Nepal has been an amazing country and it has been a blessing to be here and work alongside a head pastor of 9 churches in the Kathmandu valley. We traveled to many of them sharing with many believers. I believe the main way God has used us these past few months in Asia (Malaysia, India, Nepal) has been to encourage and build up the Church. Just our presence is always encouraging as there are few Christians in these past countries and persecution is very common. Many Christians have been rejected from their families, faced many other persecutions and seek out the church family. This month had its tiring moments as we travelled 2-4 hours a day as roads, terrain, and traffic are terrible here. We are currently undergoing our 8 month debrief and it has been a blessing to relax these past few days before going to Africa.

As I look back through the past 5 countries in Asia it has been nothing but incredible to see the faith and body of Christ in the nations. God has done so much in my life and I have experience and seen so many different ministries. I can’t wait for Africa as I know God has big plans as always to “do work” and reveal himself to me more and more. This past week we were able to do slum ministry and encouraged so many Christians in the slums of Kathmandu. It was a blessing both ways to fellowship with those who have completely different lives and share the common denominator of our faith in Jesus Christ. We prayed for many healings that day (to the point of exhaustion). We did not witness any miracles that day but as we have traveled through Asia it has become clear that they are happening every day. Many might look upon our slum ministry as a failure, but in reality we shared the love of Christ, encouraged many struggling families, blessed some with food, and most importantly obeyed the commandment of God to “go” and heal. Who am I to dislike the outcome of my obedience to God’s commands? I am learning a lot about healings as we hear personal testimonies on multiple occasions in each country. Perhaps God will choose to reveal himself to me in that way in Africa. I never know what to expect but do know that as I continue in my faith and walk out my obedience God will continue to reveal himself more to me.

We only have three months left and all will be in Africa. Please keep me and my teammates in your prayers. We arrive back in the U.S. around early August and I will spend a month with family and then would love to come see each of you! I plan on driving around the U.S. thanking supporters and sharing all that God has done in the past 11 months. I really would love to see all of you and don’t think you’re too far away because we all know the worlds a small place.

I had to buy an internet stick to get access just now and don’t know how often I will be able to get online… but hopefully I’ll keep you posted once a week!
