Yes it’s that time, the time to ask supporters to give me money, but also a time to stop giving! From a previous blog we should all know that I have enough in my personal account to cover the rest of what I need. Currently I will be paying for 2/3rd of the total. I would like to bring this down to where I’m paying for half of my mission trip. This would allow me to continue giving generously as well as have enough to complete the race well and re-establish myself on my return. I still like to think I have learned what it means to be content in every circumstance just like Paul in Philippians 4:11-12 “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” To be honest I don’t think I have ever been in a situation of true need, but I understand it and see it all over the world. The want I do experience especially when my daily food budget is $3.00! Whether you’ve known me for my entire life or just met me, the first thing anyone usually figures out is that I eat a lot more than $3.00!  Anyways this is not just a pity story but a chance to give one last gift as well as to stop giving. As of March1st it is my last deadline of the total $15,500. Please continue to give this month but cancel reoccurring gifts after March 1st. I might be able to receive it after this deadline, but would rather not take the chance of your generous gift going to Adventure in Missions who sponsor the Worldrace (Although I do like AIM).                 Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey through prayers and support. It has not gone unnoticed as this trip has created many unforgettable moments and is continually teaching and raising me up to be a true man of God.

                This month in Malaysia has already been a challenge in many different ways from the previous 5 countries. It is a different challenge because at our location we are not allowed to be open Christians. We can’t pray in public, worship outside, or really draw any attention to ourselves for fear of damaging the long term ministry that our Pastor has here. With this said we have a lot of down time, the girls teach English while us guys scramble around to find something worthwhile to do.  This week I have had more free time than I have ever had in my life. It’s easy to pass the days, feeling unaccomplished and struggle to find why exactly God has called us to be here in this moment. I know he is teaching me a lot in this down time and have faith that His calling is worthwhile. Next week we will start a few more ministry opportunities like tourism evangelism, soccer ministry and a couple more visitations. So far this month I’m learning that with a lot of time comes a lot of responsibility, my obedience to God does not always agree with my desire, and that Jesus Christ does indeed have all authority here on earth  (Math. 28:18).

                The one ministry opportunity I had this week was indeed an eye opener for me. We went and visited this lady who has been struggling with demonic oppression/attacks. The pastor by divine providence stumbled upon her last week receiving prayer from a Chinese witch doctor. He quickly mentioned to the Hindu mother that this prayer would only make it worse and to give him a call if she wanted help. The next day she agreed that the attacks had only worsened and needed prayer. Pastor prayed for her once then and the symptoms of the attacks were weakened but not gone. We went along with pastor the next time to pray for her. When we started our first song mid-way through she let out a yell and started uncontrollably frolicking on the ground (I don’t know what song; it was in Malay). The pastor and the church body began to pray over her steadfastly for the next hour, which seem to bring only pain and more attacks. By the end my faith was shriveling and I began to doubt whether I had enough faith or whether it was God’s will, but shortly after I could see the benefits of our prayers as she truly was a completely different person. Smiling, joking, and even asking pastor if she had hurt him. The Hindu family is still Hindu but the attacks have stopped. My only question now is for how long will the attacks stop without the truth of Jesus truly being evident in her life? My first response to this incident was “uh really” as I am a big skeptic. This incident really brought to life a lot of insight into a spiritual wisdom that is talked about in 1 Corinthians 1 & 2. I am still working out some concepts that I don’t fully understand yet and might never fully understand. All depending on what God chooses to reveal to me in His perfect timing (1 Cor. 2:10). Anyways that’s about all that happened this week.

Prayer Requests

  • ·         Pray that God will continue to reveal this spiritual wisdom to me as well as my team and squad. Especially since Malaysia is turning out to be a very spirit influenced country.
  • ·         Pray for God’s guidance as we seek him day to day in what to do and how to be the light we are called to be (Math. 5:13-15).
  • ·          Pray for continual growth and understanding in God’s will for me here with all this free time.
  • ·         Pray for protection over the Christians in Malaysia.
  • ·         Pray for my finances and wants to be met as well as the financial wants and needs of all my squad mates who are trying to meet this March 1st deadline.
