So, as some of you all might have heard, I am having myself a little adventure this fall…
This September I will be leaving behind my paying job, my loving family, my awesome friends, and my dear brothers and sisters at my church; basically my comfortable and complacent life.
I’m leaving all of this behind because for the past year or so I have been restless, unhappy deep down. It was barely noticeable most of the time, I was living a happy and glorious life. However, in the core of who I was, there was an endless longing. I wasn’t satisfied with all I had amassed in my life, I felt unfulfilled.
You see, I’m a follower of Christ. I stumble quite a bit, but I always try to continue in the direction of His love; because while I know that I and this world will always let me down, Jesus is ever faithful. He traded me my sadness, darkness, wrath, and death for His breath of life, His spirit. However, I’m not satisfied with this Western view of “Christianity” that seems to be prevalent in the church. The view that if I go to church, give money, be a good person, serve Him here and there, and don’t slip up; I’m following Him. While these things are good, I do not feel that they are the true heart of my Lord or at least the way that He has called me to follow Him right now.
God placed in my heart long ago to treat everyone I meet like family; to love all people I meet, even if I don’t like them. Because what I believe to be the most effective ministry is discipleship through love. I often hear people ask for the best way to testify the love of Jesus to others: the best way to tell them is to show them!
Our greatest ministry tool is to share life and love on people, Jesus said it in the Bible. This is what I plan to do for the next 11 months starting in September. I’ll be visiting 11 different countries in Asia and sharing the love of Christ with people that may not receive attention or may be forgotten by the world. I want to take the message of grace and forgiveness that was given to me and share that with everyone!
To accomplish this goal it requires a few things, but most importantly it requires finances. I need to raise $16,000 to go on this journey, and I can only reach that number with your help. I actually did a little math and found out that if only 200 people donate $80 each to my mission trip, I will be fully funded! Could you be one of those people? I challenge you to consider donating and not be blessed exponentially MORE than you could think, for my God is a loving and mighty God. And He loves you, no matter what you’ve done.
If you’d like to donate, there is a space on this blog to do so, and if you leave your name on the donation, I will make sure to pray for you. I love you all, dear family!
