This past week was training camp for me. I went with the expectation for God to move and boy did He! While many things happened that have changed my life forever there was one occurrence that sticks out in my mind more than any other: the calling of men.

Without giving away any secrets about Training Camp I will just say that during one point of the week AIM splits the men and the women up and takes the men into the woods. We were given a simple task and were told to go do it immediately. This task could have been done by each individual person, but it was best completed with team work. Our team “failed” miserably at this task. Only a small handful of us were able to successfully accomplish the goal alone.

At the end the men in our squad met together and for the first time we became vulnerable with each other. The task we were given revealed to many of us that we deeply need each other. My own heart was touched in a tremendous way as I learned that I cannot do this race on my own. I have to have these other men to survive this.

Standing there each one of us made a silent commitment to one another. It was a promise to be there when things get hard; a vow of righteousness.

As the week continued we (the men) were constantly speaking into each other’s lives and meeting together to discuss things in our lives that we need to overcome. Through prayer and the powerful love of the Holy Spirit reining through us our group has pushed through and broken down walls. We have made steps towards righteousness and are seeking the face of Christ as one.

I have never seen such a strong movement and it excites me to move alongside these men and grow with them in maturity and spiritual wisdom. Our race has not yet begun, yet we are already a mile ahead!
