As I dug deeper into the subject I learned that 1.) God does hate drunkenness, however drinking wine in the right time of celebration was not frowned upon as long as you do not get drunk from it, and 2.) there is a much deeper meaning to why God had Christ do this act first. Let me explain:
So Jesus did this act at a wedding banquet – how cool is that?! That Jesus started His first sign at a wedding, when in fact all is said and done He wants the chosen to join Him at a wedding banquet as His brides! Pretty awesome stuff if you think about it! – and on top of that Jesus took something so bland and tasteless like water and made it into the best of wine! In fact the wine was so good that the host asked the bridegroom why he waited to bring out the best wine last, as it was the best wine He had ever drank!
In deeper context I received this form the Lord: We are the water when we are outside of the things of Christ. Our lives are bland and dull; tasteless. However when we enter into the things of Christ, He transforms us into something that no one has ever had before! It is something so magnificent that we have nothing other than Christ to compare it to! HAHAA! How sweet is that?! Christ’s first miracle encompasses what He was going to do with us! He has brought us from death to life!
My prayer is that Jesus will transform every drop of water in my life to become the sweet wine that He makes. Are you with me?!
