So getting from Malaysia to Nicaragua is no easy
task. It can take two trains, a couple
of taxis and 4 different flights all containing lengthy layovers to get from
East Asia to Central America.
Unfortunately ever since we left the jungle my stomach has been acting
up. Our contact Peter, who has the gift
of healing prayed over me before we left and I saw a doctor who simply told me “there
is nothing wrong.” Yeah tell that to my
body please. So the healing certainly
felt at times, but my stomach would go through intense pain then I would feel
fine for a while. Our total travel plus
layover time was going to be over 100 hours so I knew the journey was going to
be long and challenging.

Good Bye Asia.
So
Saturday February 19th ended up being the longest day of all of our
lives. (Assuming no one else on the
squad has made this journey across the International Date Line leaving the
Asian country before 5 AM). Please
correct me if I’m wrong squad mates. So
we leave Bangkok at 6 AM Saturday morning.
We proceed to fly to Tokyo then on to Los Angeles, on the second flight
we cross the International Date Line, and we arrive in Los Angeles as 8 AM on Saturday. I’m not too great at figuring out confusing mathematics
that involve time standing still, but Alex says our day was around 38
hours. Unfortunately for most of the 38
hours my stomach was in serious pain.
Never been sick on a flight before and found out that can make for the
longest day of your life even without the day actually being 38 hours. During the layover in America, which by the
way was so bittersweet knowing we won’t be back for 3 months, our ER nurse Aly
Beeler gave me some antibiotics that seemed to work a miracle and by the time
we landed in Miami I was feeling much better.
Maybe my body was simply relieved Sunday only consisted of 24 hours.
So
we get here to Nicaragua tired and jet lagged.
But God is still watching out for us as he has set us up with amazing
contacts. Glenn and Lynn are from
Maryland and run a wide range of ministries here that range from working with
kids to visiting hospitals and nursing homes. We will be working with Tyler Thompson’s and
Carin’s teams this month, and we’re very excited about that. Our accommodations are amazing and Lili is
dominating the Spanish language so there is many more opportunities to minister
to the people here in Nicaragua. Lili is
planning on holding Spanish lessons for our team and I have bought a
Spanish/English dictionary. It is the
first time in my life where I am committed to learning another language. Hopefully I can make some ground in 3 months. Life is certainly looking good. Hopefully no days in the near future bring
sickness and consist of 38 hours. If
that’s the case I will certainly be relieved, and continue to thank God for the
challenge that was February 19th.

Hello Nicaragua. So we haven’t been to the beach yet, and I stole this off google images, but hopefully we will make it to the beach soon.
