So we have made it to Africa, our travel day was pretty miserable.  The weather in Ireland was crazy as we were packing up our stuff at 6 am.  Wind was blowing the tent away and the rain was pouring was we attempted to pack our stuff up.  The plane ride from Dublin to Istanbul wasn’t too bad except for the fact that we nearly landed on the runway and began to be lifted back up.  There might’ve been too much traffic, I dont know I was asleep, woke up for a second then fell back asleep but apparently the pilot had plenty of people scared.  However, the plane ride from Istanbul to Nairobi was pretty miserable, the plane was hot, stinky and stuffy and the day was overall very long as from bed to bed the travel was over 24 hours as we didn’t settle into Kenya until about 5 am.

Luckily we have a couple of days to relax and get to know our new teams.  So yeah about that, my new team consists of team leader Courtney Hess, Ally Beeler, Carin Cownden, Kevin Smigleski, and from my previous team Sarah Hogan, and Heather Horton.  So read up on their blogs and get to know them.  We will be working in Nairobi for the first month.  Like anytime in Africa we are encouraged to be flexible, so we were given many different options for ministry (prison ministry, orphanage, evangelism, etc.)  However the place in which we’ll do ministry will be the largest slum in Kenya, so this will certainly be interesting.
The thing that excites me the most about being in Africa is the kindness of the people.  Everybody is so welcoming and kindly welcomes us into their country.  I’ve had a man salute me, matt and I just had a man show us everything we needed in Nairobi and bargain good prices for us just to welcome us in.  I believe I can learn quite a bit from these people.  Please pray for our team as we will be starting our ministry tomorrow.  Pray for good health (I’m drinking coffee at a coffee shop as I write so hopefully the water in the coffee is clean).  Pray also that our team will grow closer together and not waste any time ministering to the people in Kenya.  Until next time, God Bless.
