That is the name of our host and hostess here in
Thailand. We have not gotten to the
point where we can call them by their affectionate grandparent names in person,
but this is how we refer to them when we are on our own. Ron and Peggy Roloff are famous. They are the parents of the husband from the
TLC show Little People Big World. Papa
Ron told us this within the first 5 minutes of meeting him.
The two are very proud of all their children,
including the now famous, Matt.

Our team with Ron in the middle, looks like one of us doesn’t he.
However,
Ron and Peggy’s fame do not end with simply being the parents of a reality
television star. Ron and Peggy Roloff
are two of the most incredible people I have ever met. They came to Thailand for the first time last
year, and vow to come back every year possible for the rest of their
lives. Ron has worked hard his entire
life providing for his family, and now he works just as hard at the age of 73
serving the Lord overseas. Peggy teaches
English to the girls from Remember Nhu and Ron is a project manager. Ron might be over 70 but he’s in shape and could easily pass for someone in his 50s. We’ve heard him brag a few times about his rock hard chest. While Ron rides us to work harder every day,
Peggy makes us brownies to reward our hard work every afternoon. Their lives and service are truly inspiring.

It
must be mentioned how truly unique and one of a kind both Ron and Peggy are
when it comes to comedic purposes. They
could very well be the craziest/funniest couple I’ve ever met. Ron is famous among us for funny quotes. “Don’t Buffalo me boys” (not sure what this
means). “Keep your picks moving.” And “Flap your wings and fly.” He actually called us otters tonight at the dinner table. Ron is also very candid and unashamed when
talking about particular subjects, whether it’s his sex life, lost family
members, children, or his opinion on politics or religion, Ron certainly does
not have a filter or care what anyone else thinks. Ron is many things and not the least of which
is highly entertaining.

This is the vehicle we ride around in, it is a pickup truck lined with benches and covered in a roof.
So
that is an introduction to the couple hosting us this month. Papa Ron and Honey, reality television
stars/foreign missionaries. We’re
continuing to work hard throughout the week.
4 hours of hard labor a day. We
have buried a new drainage pipe behind the girls’ house and continue to work on
the big drain around the road. On the
weekends we travel into town for fun, but half the team last weekend stayed
Saturday night in Chiang Mai to help the girls as they go out to the bars and
witness to the women trapped in sex trafficking. The other half of the team, my portion, will
do that Saturday night so be praying for us.
Until next time.
